Spring Rain Coats
7. 05. 2021

Spring Rain Coats

For those of you who don’t live in sunshine-all-the-time southern California, maybe your Spring looks a little different. Maybe you live in Portland or New York and spring hasn’t quite sprung yet, and it’s still a little cloudy and rainy. And, hey, we here in SoCal do understand as we’ve seen an abnormal amount of rain and gloom this spring season. We’re here to provide you with those perfect spring jackets and raincoats since the rain hasn’t quite gone away and June gloom is on its way. So check out these rain coats that will keep you dry.
Our first pick is a snakeskin print rain slicker. Everyone knows the North Face is known for their stellar outdoors gear to keep any wilderness enthusiast prepared. This collaboration mixes the best of both worlds. A very functional, water resistant, lightweight rain jacket mixed with the streetwear style of Supreme. Not only will you be dry, but you’ll also be fashionable. Show this jacket off at the club or use it for your transit in morning dew to stay warm. Whatever option, you’ll be covering your bases.
This jacket reminds me of something my club soccer coach would wear. Not because of the excellent 70’s trim that lines the zipper, but because every area can be cinched to keep out water. The cuffs, hood, and waist can be cinched in with water tight resistance. This no-name vintage jacket is perfect for athletes or bicycle commuters who need to stay dry out in the rain but don’t need a heavy jacket that restricts movement. And no need to worry about ruining it or damaging it with your intense activity, as this coat is a steal for five dollars. So keep it moving and keep it dry with this super practical rain coat.
No, this jacket is not made by Sketchers, but, hey, could’ve fooled me with the super similar logo. This vintage SurfStyle cropped rain coat is made of a cute metallic material, which almost hides the fact that it is a rain coat and water resistant. This material was everywhere in the early 2000’s, so it definitely brings that nostalgic feel to it. This jacket would be a great addition over a hoodie to dress it up into a more formal outfit. Again like the jacket before, this jacket can be cinched in at the waist in case you need to keep the breeze off your midriff.
Next we have your classic Paddington the Bear yellow rain jacket. This rain jacket is a little bit thicker and could accommodate a torrential downpour, I’m sure. The quality is definitely a little bit more elevated then your standard rain coat (like I said, you can tell by the material and weight of the jacket), as this one is made by Supreme. It may look like your standard jacket but it also has very utilitarian pockets and compartments for storing things. Note the giant pocket on the back — you could fit a dinner for two in that! No need for a disaster go bag, just prepare this jacket by filling the pockets with all your survival needs. If a hurricane is to strike, all you’ll need is this jacket, and you won’t need to worry about staying dry because the jacket’s got you covered — literally.
Sticking with the bright and funky colors theme, next we have this rain coat by Colombia, another outdoors attire staple in the adventure and thrill seeking world. This vintage take most likely came out in the 80’s when color waves like this were popular. I’ve never really understood the zipper that goes midway down your chest and acts as a vent, but honestly, it’s a cool cut and aesthetic. This jacket would be perfectly paired with some biker shorts on an overcast day. You’ll be ready for whatever the day brings, and you’ll be ready to lead a jazz-ercise class if the opportunity ever presents itself. All you’ll need is some neon sweatbands and your boombox blasting “When Doves Cry,” and you’ll have that class jazz dancing like they’ve never danced before.
This rain coat by the North Face reads “Pacific Northwest art student” all day! The quiet type, someone really into books — like really into books — doesn’t drink coffee, only tea. Am I hitting all the archetypes? I’m not sure what it is, maybe it’s the color or the paisley lining, but we all know the type of person that would wear this jacket. So if that’s you, and you feel called out, it’s here waiting for you at the 2nd Street in Costa Mesa.

So if you’re having an “It’s (not) Always Sunny in (insert city)”, we got you covered here at 2nd Street with these awesome rain coats. Enjoy your Spring 2021 and stay dry!
