Shoes to Help Show Your Feet Some Sun
Now that we’ve acclimated back into daylight savings time, we’ve been able to go out and bask in the sun. And what a joy that has been! Spring is a great time to step into some new shoes (literally) and show the sun and the world those toes. For too long have your toes been stuffed into boots and trainers for the winter months. It’s finally time to reclaim our exposed feet. So trim those nails, paint those toes, and moisturize those ankles because we’re breaking out some open toed shoes and sandals. All these shoes can be found at 2nd Street Costa Mesa.
First up, we have these Steve Madden wedges. The leather peep toes remind me of a wedge sandal option that came with the Bratz Dolls — but in the best way. These are the leather wedges of every girl-born-in-the-90’s dreams. The textured wedge, which gives off a cooled metal/industrial feel, gives a nice accent to the leather top. If only these wedges were a little bit bigger, I would be all over them, but, alas, they are a size 6. Because of this, you can find them at the extremely low price of sixteen dollars.
These nearly primary colored heels give off a fun 80’s vibe. Also made by Steve Madden, these shoes feel like they were made for a completely different era than the previous shoe. This fun and flirty shoe looks like they would be strolling around Central Park on a first date in any typical name-dropping romantic comedy from the 80’s. They also look like a shoe Madonna would’ve rocked in a music video with some lace socks. Whatever your vibe is, these shoes will give you the weirdest tan lines. But hey, it might be worth it for the unique trichrome color palette. Pair these heels with an all-yellow or all-green outfit and you’re good to go.
These Mexican sandals make me want to go on vacation! I could see myself really anywhere in Mexico wearing these, touring cities in the sun, eating amazing seafood, and drinking margaritas. That’s what this shoe means to me, and if you grew up in California, I bet you have a similar view. These shoes can be found pretty much everywhere, but that doesn’t take away from the wanderlust they inspire. You can’t help but want to escape and enjoy all the wonders and great tourism Mexico has to offer. Hopefully with vaccinations becoming more widely available, traveling will open back up again. Find these handcrafted leather sandals here at 2nd Street for five dollars.
Following the traditional Mexican sandals, we have these mustard suede mules. Simple and classic, these are the perfect Easter Sunday brunch shoe. Pair them with a cute sundress or floral skirt and you’re ready for a cute brunch in Huntington Garden with your family. Don’t worry about stumbling home in your Sunday brunch heels after too many mimosas, because you’ll be grounded and gliding in these flats. These mustard mules may be a little tattered on the suede, but you can always bust out the trusty ol’ shoe cleaner and go to town on these. It will definitely be worth it.
These Guess platform wedges are such a 2003 vibe. It’s time to break out those khaki capris and get your lip gloss poppin’, because these shoes are ready to go hang out at the mall with all the other cool seventh graders. Back in the day, I’m sure these Guess shoes came with a matching little wrist purse or wallet. Remember when matching all your name brands was the go-to fashion trend back in the day? You could only wear these shoes if they are accompanied by a matching jumpsuit and charm bracelet. Make sure your toes are painted a bright pink to complete the look, and we’ll catch you in ’03.
Last, but certainly not least, we have a buckled sandal by Laura Comey! The sturdy leather sole is well preserved, and looks like once you wear them in they would be super comfortable to stroll around in. Maybe not quite Birkenstock comfortable, but almost. Slide on these sandals and let them inspire you to head to the farmer’s market for some sunlight and fresh flowers. You’ll be able to walk for miles in these breezy comfortable shoes. You could also dress them down and do some Sunday gardening. Either way, you’ll be happy to let your feet hang out in the sunlight.
Well, we hope you all are enjoying the Spring and the sunlight. We know we are, down here in sunny Costa Mesa, California. Stop by a 2nd Street near you to pick up some new sandals, peep toes, or wedges to get those toes in the rays.
