Festival Looks (The Indoors Edition)
Well, since I last wrote, we have been almost fully quarantined, but that doesn’t mean things aren’t looking up. Besides the ever growing lines at the grocery stores and Target, we are beginning to at least expect postponement dates for future events and festivals. Additionally, it’s not all doom and gloom as humans are finding surprising and creative ways to carry on their events, get-togethers, and parties as well as keep human connection.
People are refusing to face this pandemic alone, and are emotionally supporting each other through the virtual spaces we occupy. To avoid physical contact, presidential candidates have been performing virtual rallies, friends are holding social hangouts and parties over FaceTime and other video chat apps. Events seminars and concerts are being taped and live streamed over Instagram so that comments and feelings can be transferred in real time. We’ve also seen countless videos of burrows and neighborhoods coming together to exercise from their homes and sing Rhianna. So who’s to say human connection is lacking, even in quarantine times?
Again, we planned and photographed all these looks before the coronavirus took hold, and we were forced, either willingly or unwillingly, to quarantine ourselves into our homes. While these festivals looks won’t be worn to the traditional physical gathering, there’s no reason you can’t dress up in your own space for your virtual events. Either way, these outfits will have the online chat rooms commenting on your super fly fits.
Whether you’re at a festival walking around from stage to stage or sitting at home eating a virtual Sunday brunch with your friends while the coronavirus reeks societal havoc outside, this comfy, casual outfit suits either situation. The khaki pants by Radiall allow for optimum movement. No need to unbuckle your pants after your seventh mimosa, just lay back on the couch and relax. This Yohji Yamamoto Polo is available at our Melrose location or find it online on our site. The vintage souvenir jacket adds a splash of color and texture to the whole look. Perfectly paired with the Polo are some classic eggshell Converse. If you are at a festival or event, you could easily shed your top layer and store it in this roomy Slow canvas/leather tote. Finishing off the look are a pair of Gucci glasses (prescription not included lol).
This Canadian tuxedo could be the perfect fit to wear during a virtual concert. Brands such as Crap Eyewear and others are offering virtual livestream concerts over Instagram, where viewers can tune in and “attend” an event and remain a community. I personally think it’s a great way to lift peoples spirits after all concerts and events were cancelled. Even though no one will see you and your outfit, it’s the thought that counts. We can’t just live in our sweat pants and wine stained sleep shirts forever. Sometimes you just gotta put on a well-coordinated outfit, and treat ya self! The denim jacket and pants are made by APC, the jacket can be found online and in-store. The groovy patterned shirt is by ACNE, and also can be found online. This outfit is taken to the next level with its awesome accessories. The thick turquoise leather belt is of course by Gucci, the classic brown-bottomed loafers are by Green George, and lastly the brown tinted sunglasses that hide those dark handsome eyes are by Prada.
Get ready to host a group dancing session, because these boots are made for walking. No need to remove your shoes in your own house — keep them on, stay awhile. Your friends will be begging you to show them your best honky tonk line dance over FaceTime once they see you strut out in these bad boys. And what could be a better distraction than dancing up some virtual fun with your friends? So giddy-up to our Melrose location or online once we reopen to find these Burberry Black Label Slacks, perfectly tailored to show off your shoes. This satin-like blazer will allow you to move effortlessly as you dance through your living room. Made by, again, Burberry’s Black Label, it is the perfect complement to the slacks. I could see myself living in this comfy long-sleeved striped shirt over the quarantine days. This shirt was crafted by Comme De Garçons, and can be found online as well.
That will conclude our festival looks series. I think we’ve learned that staying positive is key — so keep your head up. As stated earlier, all these looks were previously selected before the disaster, but luckily most of these outfits could be worn inside during the spring quarantine season as well as the upcoming fall when most events and concerts are predicted to be rescheduled.
