Fall Like Our Favorite Season
Let’s be honest with ourselves, Hot Girl Summer hasn’t been a success for about 85% of us. We didn’t prepare properly; our time off requests were put in too late and our knees just aren’t as strong as Megan’s. This weather got us in a weird place, and we’re all being suffocated by this heat, it’s no wonder we’ve been benched for spending too much time in the AC. I’m ashamed to admit it but hanging with good company in my climate-controlled living room is sounding a lot more appealing then sweating on the field trying to score points against the City Boys.
Just imagine, you're walking down the frozen food aisle, searching for the perfect cool snack to compliment your Grey’s Anatomy binge and as you reach in to grab a pint of Sea Salt Caramel ice cream you feel a hand touch yours. You look up and it’s a cute guy or girl with the same face of summer shame as you. You exchange Instagram’s and after a week of commenting on each other’s stories you both decide it’s time to link and sulk in defeat together.
Making a good first impression is an inherent quality that we all share as humans and rather it’s a first date with a new friend or a new boo the anxiety remains the same. Where should we go? Will they like me? Will they be just as funny in real life as they are over text? Will they think my laugh is awkward? And most importantly, what will I wear?
We’ve discussed it before, but it never hurts to repeat it, the way you dress says a lot about you. It speaks volumes about your personality before you even open your mouth and it can also help create boundaries between yourself and another person and help push conversation. Are you conservative? Are you open? Do you like sunflowers? All these things can be determined simply by outfit choice.
The best part about this first date is its already been established that you both want to be vampires this summer and going out in daylight will result with your bodies bursting into piles of smoldering dust. A nice breezy evening of casual conversation is in the works and a little early fall layering is going to help you make an imprint beautiful enough to envy that of Jacob and Renesmee’s.
Even though the sun is still shining in most states it’s time to pull out all your velvet, floor length jackets, rich tones and give off those iconic lackadaisical yet perfectly put together vibes. Layering and making shapes is the best way to create a fun and comfortable look for any first date. We hate all fashion rules and believe in the philosophy of wear what makes you feel good, however there are a few things to keep in mind when layering.
It's important to mix textures, separate linen jacket and trousers will look a bit odd when paired together. Don't forget to think about the lining of jackets during warmer months when layering, sometimes simply removing the lining can give you more of a cooler feeling. It's ok to go over and under when building up your outfit and always remember that the key to successful layering is creating the right color combination.
Show your new benched buddy there are multiple layers to you.
